RIM Might Kill the PlayBook

All five PlayBook owners could soon be in possession of a piece of history if a report's findings are true.
A report on Research In Motion says the BlackBerry maker could stop manufacturing the current incarnation of the PlayBook. Analysts say the Wi-Fi tablet computer could be ditched in favour of a new cellphone version of the PlayBook, or scrapped altogether if RIM, which has just been hemorrhaging value in recent months, decides to cut its losses and focus solely on producing smartphones. If the report is indeed true, then it marks the end of a period that RIM would rather soon forget, as the PlayBook, released in March, has been met with lukewarm-to-frigid reviews and slow sales as Apple's iPad continues to dominate the tablet market.
