And all it took was gale force winds, the near deaths of members of a beloved rock band, and wicked footage of a massive stage getting blown apart.
Sunday night's stage collapse at Ottawa Bluesfest has been making headlines around the world, which is more than can be said for just about everything else that ever happens in that city. Rolling Stone, The Guardian, NME, Entertainment Weekly ... Come to think of it, the press for the near-death experience has probably become some of the best free advertising the festival ever could have wanted, if you overlook the whole, you know, disaster at the heart of it. We hate to make too much light out of it (a driver for Cheap Trick had some pretty serious injuries, the cops and the labour ministry are investigating, but everyone's otherwise OK), but think of all the amazing headlines Cheap Trick can get out of this (Aging Rock Stars Tear Roof Off of Festival! Cheap Trick Blows Fans Away! Cheap Trick Cancels a Death Cab Show!). See? Lemonade!
