Wouldn't 'Fake Apple Stores' be a great name for a Radiohead song?
Fake Apple stores have popped up not just in China, but all over the world – the blogger who first reported them says she's had readers send in accounts of seeing similar knock-offs in such non-Chinese countries as Venezuela, Croatia, Burma, Colombia, Slovenia, and Spain. Now, Burma, Colombia, and Venezuela, yeah, we can understand that there might be some high-profile counterfeiting going on there, but Spain really needs to question itself if that's the kind of company it wants to keep (Slovenia, you're still cool). The Chinese government has already shut down two of the fake Apple stores in Kumming, but say they can't close three others because they were selling legitimate Apple products. To us, that's basically saying it's fine to rip off the intellectual property of one of the most recognizable stores in the world, so long as you sell their goods.
