North Korea Condemns Canada at the UN

John Baird: "The fact that the North Korean regime is attacking Canada, frankly, I believe is a badge of honour."

There’s constructive criticism, and then there’s criticism from a blood-thirsty dictatorship. This week, North Korea accused Canada of Cold War-type confrontation after Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird once again criticized North Korea's position as temporary chair of the UN Conference on Disarmament. Baird announced earlier that Canada would temporarily boycott the Conference until North Korea ceases to be chair on August 19th. The North Korean delegate condemned Canada in response, urging that Canada is setting a “very disgraceful precedent,” before defending the uranium-enriching country that starves its own people and sunk a South Korean naval vessel last year. No other North Koreans spoke out about the issue, because, well, they're not allowed to.
