Apple has more cash than the U.S. treasury; Jobs' plans for world domination not yet revealed.
Hold onto your iPods, ladies and gentleman: Apple officially has more cash than the U.S. government. The U.S. Treasury department said Friday that it had an “operating balance” of $73.8 billion, while Apple has roughly $76.2 billion in cash and securities. Though the figures aren't directly comparable, it's not entirely outside the realm of possibility that the government could ask Apple for a bail-out in the future. With the deadline for default just two days away and no debt deal reached, the idea of U.S. President Steve Jobs becomes more and more palatable by the minute.
