Largest Ever Hacking Campaign Uncovered

Governments, institutions, and companies across North America, Asia, and Europe have been targeted by an unnamed country since 2006.
A computer security company claims that it has uncovered the largest ever cyber warfare campaign, with the governments of Canada, the U.S., India, South Korea, the International Olympic Committee, the United Nations, and more than 60 other institutions and companies all having been targeted over the past five years. McAfee says it looks like a single country is behind the attacks, although it won't say which one (cough China cough). Hackers remotely accessed supposedly secure networks and sorted through data for as long as 28 months, depending on the institution. The Canadian properties are only generically listed by McAfee as “Canadian Government Agency #1”, for example, so the severity of the attacks, or the sensitivity of their targets, is unknown. McAfee vice-president Dmitri Alperovitch, however, has termed this “the biggest transfer of wealth in terms of intellectual property in history.” Whooo-eeee.
