Canadians To Pay for the Onion

Sadly, we don’t think this announcement was satirical.

The world’s favourite satirical news source The Onion will now require non-US visitors to pay $2.95 per month or $29.95 per year if they want to read more than five stories in a 30 day period. Sadly, the site that brought us such classics as “Nation's Dog Owners Demand To Know Who's A Good Boy” and “Archaeological Dig Uncovers Ancient Race of Skeleton People” will be just that much more out of reach, at least for the time being. We should have seen it coming after the Onion responded to the New York Times paywall earlier in the year with an article titled “NYTimes.com’s Plan To Charge People Money For Consuming Goods, Services Called Bold Business Move.”
