The tiny device mixes drinks with a testing solution to instantly detect GHB and ketamine.
Scientists from Tel Aviv University’s chemistry department have invented a date-rape sensor that can accurately detect two of the most common date-rape drugs in a drink. The tiny, affordable, and reusable device looks just like a straw or drink stirrer, and turns on a tiny red light when it detects GHB or ketamine. When you put it in a drink, it quickly samples the liquid and mixes it with a testing solution to determine whether or not it can be safely consumed. Inventors Fernando Patolsky and Michael Ioffe hope it will soon also be able to detect ruffies, and are currently seeking investors to market their product.
