An unlicensed version of the US magazine featured much better hats than the original.
Forbes magazine is suing a Russian firm in Dagestan after they released a fake edition of the US business magazine. A Russian edition of Neftyanik’s publication evoked “an unequivocal association with Forbes magazine,” Forbes wrote in a statement. The special edition was dedicated to the Dagestan region of Russia, and featured a businessman in a shaggy woolen hat on the cover. In addition to using the same typeface as the American magazine, they also used Forbes' name (coincidence, of course.) The case will be heard in mid-September by the Arbitration Court of Dagestan. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, except when you do it without permission for profit.
