The Quebec premier joins the prime minister and U.S. president in a club of people whom hackers have declared dead.
Le Devoir says hackers broke into its website late last night and posted a story saying Quebec Premier Jean Charest had died from a heart attack. No one has claimed responsibility for the hack just yet, but Le Devoir called Charest's office to apologize and sent out a missive this morning to clarify the rumours of the premier's death, which had already made the rounds on Facebook and Twitter. The hack follows one last month in which hackers breached the Fox News Twitter account and sent out messages saying U.S. President Barack Obama had been assassinated at a restaurant on the 4th of July. In June, the Conservative Party's website was hacked and altered to say that Prime Minister Stephen Harper had been taken to hospital after choking on his breakfast.
