Vive le Gilles Libre!
Well, so much for Gilles Duceppe's stint at Radio-Canada. The former Bloc Québécois leader has quit his new gig as a commentator with the public broadcaster's weekly program La Premiere Chaine before he ever even hit the air because the terms of his contract specified he could only discuss social and lifestyle issues and not politics. Duceppe was keen on talking about the former two, but had also wanted to occasionally weigh in on matters political. CBC requires a two-year grace period for former politicians before they can comment on politics to prevent conflicts of interest, so Duceppe has decided he'd rather part ways than give up his sovereignty to Radio-Canada.
