Flaherty Would Use Second Stimulus To Fight Recession

But until that point, it's all cuts, all the time!
Finance Minister Jim Flaherty is fine with spending billions in a second stimulus package should the world economy dip back into a recession, even if it means altering the Conservative's key election promise of balancing the budget by 2015-16. Flaherty addressed a special meeting of Parliament's finance committee today to clarify how the government intends to counter the economic slowdown and debt crises that have plagued Europe and the United States. Flaherty said “we would obviously do what is needed” if things go down the crapper like they did in 2008, when the Tories forked over billions in stimulus funding and plunged their ledger further into the red. Let's just hope things don't come to that, just so we don't have to put up with endless Tory trumpeting over how Canada's Economic Action Plan Pt. II saved the country (for real this time, though).
