Egypt (Probably) Didn't Withdraw Israeli Ambassador

Conflicting reports emerge about the status of Egypt's ambassador to Israel following the death of three security officials.

Confusion abounds in Egypt after reports emerged Saturday that the Egyptian ambassador was withdrawn from Israel after the killing of Egyptian police officers. Israeli troops reportedly killed the three officers while chasing down the militants who killed eight Israeli civilians near the Egyptian border on Thursday. Officials in Egypt, who are believed to have been serving as mediators between Israel and Hamas, have denied reports of the ambassador's withdrawal but demanded an investigation into the killings. Egypt’s cabinet is also waiting for an apology from Israel for accusing the Egyptian military of losing control of the Sinai following Thursday’s incident. Hundreds protested in Cairo Friday night burning Israeli flags, sparking concerns that the ousting of Mubarak from the region may indeed be very dangerous for Israel.
