Public consultation says almost half of Canadians are hesitant about joint security projects with the U.S.

Canadians are "pretty concerned" about collaborations between Canadian and American law enforcement agencies, according to reports released today by Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird. As Ottawa negotiates with the U.S. to improve border security and trade, many Canadians surveyed expressed worries about integration with U.S. security. Nearly half of the 1,000 online respondents in a public consultation voiced concerns about the sharing of information and potential infringements on civil liberties. Baird said Ottawa will take these concerns into account while it works with the U.S. to improve security and the flow of goods across the border, stressing that "it's all about job creation." Wonder which American officials are working on the deal?
