Analog TV Era Ends as Digital Takes Over

The antennae users among us mourn the end of free over-the-air television. Well, at least until they buy converter boxes.
Today marks the end of the analog television era in Canada, as broadcasters switch to digital signals across the country. While CBC and some CTV stations in Saskatchewan have yet to cancel their analog signals, the switch means people using antennae to pick up television broadcasts will now need digital converters or purchase a satellite or cable package. Converter boxes aren't too egregiously expensive, but the end of the analog era of television (something like 70 years) is bound to leave a few sentimentalists a tad blurry-eyed. If you're using an antenna on your flatscreen TV, though, you should be fine, as they have built in digital converters.
