A new art exhibit in Ottawa commemorates the Canadian response to 9/11.

The American embassy in Ottawa has unveiled a new art exhibit for the 10th anniversary of the September 11th attacks. The exhibit, called “Thank You Canada,” commemorates Canada’s response to the terrorist attacks and features large coloured photos. In 2001, people instantly crowded around the embassy the morning of the attacks with flowers, condolence cards, and children’s drawings. U.S. ambassador David Jacobson said the exhibit is meant as a gesture to thank Canadians for their sympathy and support. Jacobson added that he felt the U.S. exported a bit too much fear over the last decade and wanted to move back to a message of hope and shared humanity. He also said that Canada and U.S. would stand together to “confront evil.”
