Giller Long List Unveiled

Sixteen authors will vie for Canada's richest literary prize.
Hot on the heels of this morning's Man Booker prize short list, 16 authors have made the long list for the Scotiabank Giller Prize, the biggest literary award in Canada. The two Canadian works on the Booker shortlist, Esi Edugyan's Half-Blood Blues and Patrick deWitt's The Sisters Brothers, also made the Giller list, along with 14 other novels from authors both new and old. The Giller prize nets the winning author $50,000. The other nominees are:
