Ontario Election Kicks Off

The secret? Whoever says "hard-working Ontario families" the most actually wins.
Ontario Lt.-Gov. David Onley will dissolve the province's legislature today, dropping the writ for an election in the country's most populous province. Starting today, the official election campaigning begins, even though the Liberals, PCs, NDP, and Greens have basically been doing just that all summer long. Such is life when you have fixed election dates. The campaigns are already off to a roaring start, with shades of xenophobia colouring the response of a certain right-leaning tabloid newspaper chain to a Liberal proposal that would pay employers a $10,000 tax credit to hire new Canadians (and we're only on Day 1! Who knows where this thing will end up?). So, buckle up for the next 30 days as we follow the travels and travails of Dalton McGuinty, Tim Hudak, and Andrea Horwath. Come Oct. 6, we can forget it ever happened.
