Ahmadinejad Tells Assad to Play Nice

  • First Posted: Sep 11 2011 10:13 AM

Remember that time Ahmadinejad won a sketchy re-election involving a violent crackdown on protestors? Because apparently, he doesn’t.

Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has finally suggested that the Syrian president cool it a little on the violent crackdown. The long-term Syrian BFF reportedly told Bashar al-Assad that a “military solution is never the right solution,” proving for the first time that perhaps Mahmoud has a sense of humour after all. The strange announcement is likely intended to help reform Assad’s image so he can continue to hold onto power, while Iran gets to pretend like it cares about the Arab spring. Iran has been accused of simultaneously offering billions in financial support to Assad's regime and even providing material support for the violent crackdowns. What, they don't trust this guy?
