His criminal conviction gives the Order grounds to kick him out.
Conrad Black, the Baron of Crossharbour, former media titan, and once again an inmate in the U.S. federal prison system, could soon be stripped of his Order of Canada. Black, who's currently serving the remainder of a 42-month sentence for fraud and obstruction of justice in a Florida prison, was awarded the Order of Canada way back in 1990, when he was just a newspaper magnate with a large vocabulary. But the Order's rules state that the title can be revoked if the honoree is convicted of a crime or engages in behaviour otherwise unbecoming of the Order. A panel will review the case against Black, then offer him a chance to resign, or to defend his inclusion in the order. Knowing Black, he will most certainly opt for the latter.
