Ford Nation is falling apart at the seams as Toronto finally finds something to bond over – a dislike of Rob Ford.
Since we've just finished trashing the validity of polls, we realize this comes off as a tad hypocritical, but a Forum Research poll has discovered that only a quarter of Toronto residents would vote for Mayor Rob Ford if an election were held tomorrow. Only 27 per cent of eligible voters in Toronto would cast a ballot for the guy, who's had about as rough a summer as a municipal politician could find. Further to that, not a single ward in the city – not even those ones on the fringes that everyone says were the reason Ford was elected in the first place – would give Ford more than 50 per cent of their vote. The growing opposition to Ford's budget-balancing act, both on council and among the population at large, seems like it could hamstring the remaining three years of Ford's term, meaning his plans for the waterfront's redevelopment are probably dead on arrival. In addition, expect a whole ton of acrimony over any service cuts, as it looks like Toronto has finally grown a spine.
