The winner of Canada’s Lane Anderson award was also rejected for publication in the US.

Who would’ve thought a children’s book called “Evolution: How We and All Living Things Came to Be” could cause a stir? This year’s Lane Anderson award for the best science book for young readers in Canada went to a book that couldn't even get published in the United States. Author Daniel Loxton says American publishers refused his book because it would be too controversial and risky, though Canada’s "Kids Can Press" does not seem to have the same problem with the Canadian market. The children’s book about evolution has received acclaim by the National Science Teachers Association, and is ranked 1,045 on Amazon (only 1, 038 places behind “Heaven is for Real: A Little Boy's Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back.”)
