Poll of the day: No one's really buying what any of the parties are selling.
An online poll finds that Ontario voters think that the provincial NDP has far more integrity than the Liberals or Progressive Conservatives and that those latter two are about as trustworthy as a Romanian arms dealer. The Abacus Data survey found that 55 per cent of respondents thought the Liberals would "promise anything" to get their vote, but just six per cent felt they would keep their promises. For the PCs, those numbers were 46 per cent and 15 per cent, while just 22 per cent felt the NDP would promise anything and 11 per cent said the NDP would probably keep its promises. Only 15 per cent of voters felt the NDP was out of touch with voters, compared to 37 per cent for the PCs and 42 per cent for the Liberals. The pollsters say this indicates that the NDP has more traction with voters outside of its base than the other two parties, but, all in all, this poll paints a pretty bleak picture of voters' trust in their politicians to follow through on their platforms. Given how misleading or downright confusing these platforms are, though, maybe it's for the better if they promise the moon and only deliver a tax credit or two.
