Oh My Freaking God We Broke The Speed of Light

Take THAT, Einstein.
Scientists at the CERN particle accelerator in Geneva, Switzerland, have measured sub-atomic particles moving faster than the speed of light. This is the first time in human history that this phenomenon has been recorded. Over the course of three years, CERN researchers blasted neutrinos from their particle accelerator to Gran Sasso, Italy, 730 kilometres away. Detectors in Gran Sasso recorded that the neutrinos arrived there 60 nanoseconds faster than light would have, which is seems negligible but is, in the immortal words of Vice-President Joe Biden, a "Big F'n Deal." Albert Einstein's theory of relativity asserts that the speed of light, at 299,792,458 metres per second, is a universal constant that couldn't be surpassed, but neutrinos, which behave like no other sub-atomic particle out there, seem to disagree. We're not going to attempt to explain how they work (we have liberal arts degrees), but we've read enough sci-fi to hope that time travel isn't too far away.
