The party has asked for a formal investigation after finding “disturbing” emails exchanged between Clement and the mayor of Huntsville.
The New Democrats are sending G8 documents to the RCMP and the House of Commons ethics committee for investigation regarding a breach of internal rules. The NDP recently found a series of emails between Tony Clement, now Head of the Treasury Board, and the mayor of Huntsville Claude Doughty. The party has suggested that Clement, who was Industry Minister at the time, used funds from the 2010 summit for his own riding’s gain. What could be so suspicious about a $21 million hockey rink and swimming pool in a G8 media centre? The press like to skate in the summer, right?
