One in Five Grads Earns Less Than Median Income

Not all university degrees were created equal.
A university degree might leave you with tens of thousands of debt, but it's still worth as much as $1.3 million over a lifetime. But not every degree: The Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development found that nearly one in five university grads in Canada still ends up making less than the national median income of $37,002. Of all the countries in the OECD, Canada's rate is the highest. If you're keen to avoid that fate, get a business or math degree instead of an arts degree, as the return on investments on those are between 12 and 17 per cent instead of a piddling four per cent for arts degrees. However, math and business students also have to do things like "work for their degrees" and "not spend every waking hour either hungover, high, or drunk." Your choice, really.
