Twitter Study: Weekends Are the Best!

Also, puppies and babies are cute, murder is bad, and food tastes good when you eat it.

Not that this really needed to be confirmed scientifically, but weekends are the happiest part of the week, according to a new study that measures the world's mood through Twitter updates. Researchers at Cornell University studied 2.4 million Twitter accounts from 84 countries over the past two years, and counted the number of times positive words such as "happy" or "fun" were used and at what time of the week. Positive words were used consistently more often on weekends than during the work-week, although one wonders if the survey took into account the word "hangover" at all. The study also tracked Twitter's mood throughout the course of the day, with mornings and midnight being the happiest times of the day and the mid-afternoon being the dreariest.
