They’re also less likely to goof off or abuse alchohol, and more likely to get their glasses broken by late sleepers.
A new study of post-secondary students found that those who take earlier classes are more likely to get good grades and succeed at cognitive tasks. Apparently, students who sign up for later classes are more likely to stay up late on school nights and abuse alcohol (which, in fairness, is kind of the point.) Psychology professor Pamela Thacher analyzed 253 college students for the study, and found that those who enrolled in later classes did not do any worse than early risers when alcohol wasn’t involved. So, in short, don’t go to class drunk, and you’re fine.
