While you're dreaming of turkey and stuffing on Monday, Anonymous will wage war against Wall Street.
Anonymous, that roguish group of hackers, has issued a video saying it will "erase" the New York Stock Exchange from the internet on Monday, Oct. 10. The loose network of hacktivists has been relatively quiet since American and European authorities arrested a slew of its members over the summer, but it appears as though it has now decided to take the "Occupy Wall Street" sit-in to a whole new level. "We can no longer stay silent as the population is being taken advantage of for the sake of profit," says the video's narrator. "On Oct. 10, expect a day that will never, ever be forgotten." Just what the hacktivists have in store for Wall Street is unclear, but it doesn't sound pleasant. While just about everyone shares an understandable amount of rage toward the dubious practices of New York's traders and investors, it's worth remembering that millions of Americans and Canadians have money tied up in the markets in one form or another, and not all of them are soulless, cash-hungry capitalist zealots.
