The Simpsons actors told Fox not to have a cow when their contracts were finally renewed.
After a long and drawn out battle over cast contracts, Fox has agreed to renew the Simpsons for its 24th and 25th seasons. Although Fox refused Harry Shearer’s novel suggestion, the network agreed to pay the main cast members $300,000 per episode, for a minimum of 20 episodes per season. The cast had previously earned $440,000 per episode but Fox said the show was no longer profitable enough for those kinds of salaries and initially suggested paying them only $250,000. For comparison with other voice actors, Prime Minister Stephen Harper makes roughly $315,000 in a year, just short of the cast's new annual reduced income of $9 million. The show will return with its classic “Treehouse of Horrors XXII” on Oct. 30th.
