New iPhone Out of Stock for Pre-Orders

It's been a rough week for Apple, but it hasn't hurt sales.

Those pre-ordering the new iPhone 4S can no longer expect to pick it up on launch day. Online Apple fiends must now wait one to two weeks for the phone to be shipped, instead of picking up a copy on Oct. 14 like the earlier orderers. The launch day stock seems to have already completely sold out on Apple's website, with analysts expecting the phone to sell extremely well this month. Hardcore Apple fans and post-Jobs bandwagonners alike still have the option of lining up early Friday morning outside Apple stores, but the competition may be stiff: According to reports, people are already in line outside New York City’s 5th Avenue Branch, with nearly a week left to go.
