New online poll results reveal Canadian prejudices.

A new study has unveiled what we probably already kind of suspected: Canadians are a little bit racist. A national survey by Montreal’s Association for Canadian Studies found that Canadians on average have a negative perception of Muslims. Only 43 per cent reported feeling “somewhat” or “very” positive towards them (35 per cent in Quebec), with more than half of people reporting that they see Western and Muslim societies pitted against each other in a permanent ideological struggle. Aboriginals and atheists didn’t fare particularly well in the survey either, while Chinese people (viewed positively by 75 per cent), Protestants, Blacks, Hispanics, Catholics, Jews and francophones were viewed the most favourably.
