Steve Jobs' hatred for Google and its Android platform gets a full airing in a biography being released next week.
So, a biography of Steve Jobs is set to be released on Monday, and let's just say it will make clear just how competitive a businessman the recently deceased Apple CEO really was. Walter Isaacson's Steve Jobs is the first authorized biography of the man, and reveals how deep his hatred was for his competitors, especially Google. Jobs reportedly told Isaacson he would "spend my dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple's $40 billion in the bank, to right this wrong," referring to Google's Android smartphone platform, which Jobs maintained basically ripped off his iPhone. It also led to Jobs' hatred for Eric Schmidt, the CEO of Google who had sat on Apple's board of directors until shortly after the iPhone launched. Jobs claimed that Schmidt betrayed him and the company by launching Android so shortly after. When HTC launched an Android-based smartphone in 2010, Jobs said he would go "thermonuclear war on this" to "destroy Android." Jobs also called everything Google made "shit," (with the exception of its search engine), and unfavourably compared the web giant to Microsoft. This is pretty badass stuff for a guy who only ever wore turtle necks and New Balances. At least he can rest in peace knowing that Google+ has pretty much failed.
