Mozilla is famous for its open source approach to software development. By revealing its code for all to see, it encourages anyone to look under the hood, see how things work, and add or redesign as they see fit.
Many software developers, Mozilla included, take this collaborative culture to the next level. Mark Surman, Mozilla's executive director, says the organization has to open the doors to the office to invite innovation into its workspace.
Allowing volunteers and software enthusiasts to use its space lets Mozilla keep in touch with their community.
