The errant use of the word 'Eskimo' leaves David Anderson with some explaining to do.

So you might have heard that the Conservative government is set to bring an end to the Canadian Wheat Board's monopoly on marketing wheat grown in Western Canada. To explain just why they're doing this, Tory MP David Anderson has posted on his website one of those great Xtranormal videos in which two characters go over how the wheat board screws farmers or whatever. Sounds scintillating, right? Well, it is, right up until the character representing the Wheat Board tells the prospective wheat farmer to "slow down, young man, you're talking Eskimo." Oh, and then he uses it again in the same context. Come on, Dave, "eskimo"? That term's a little, y'know, loaded, what with it falling out of favour decades ago for the much more accurate "Inuit", as "Eskimo" is usually interpreted as meaning "raw meat eaters." Using that term is sort of like how it's not kosher anymore to use the word "indian" to describe the dozens upon dozens of peoples that populated this country before white guys showed up with his alcohol and smallpox-ridden blankets. Anyhow, we're sure Dave's a fine guy otherwise (he does have quite a nice mustache, and Saskatchewanians are usually such splendid people), but we'd thought we'd point out that it's awfully unbecoming for a public official to use such, umm, indecorous language.
