Shhh! You'll give those Occupiers something to complain about!

The unemployment rate shot up by two-tenths of a percentage point in October, from 7.1 per cent to 7.3 per cent, after Canada lost a surprising 54,000 jobs. According to Statistics Canada, all of those were full-time jobs, and mostly in manufacturing and construction, reversing expectations that the unemployment rate would likely have remained steady throughout October after gradually falling throughout the course of the year. Compared to the start of the year, 237,000 more people are employed full-time, but the October numbers put a big ol' asterisk next to any claims that employment has fully rebounded from the recession of 2008.
