Brad Wall increases his majority by 10 seats as the right-leaning party cruises to victory.
In the least surprising result of this autumn's provincial election madness, Brad Wall's Saskatchewan Party returned to power with a landslide victory last night. The Saskatchewan Party picked up a whopping 49 of 58 seats and a record 64 per cent of the popular vote. When the election was called, the party had 39 seats. A 10-seat pick-up for an incumbent government is just an indication of how wildly popular Wall and his right-leaning Saskatchewan Party are. The NDP picked up the remaining nine seats, leading to the resignation of its delightfully named leader, Dwain Lingenfelter. (Lingenfelter? He hardly knew 'er! ... ) Anyhow, it looks like another four years of smooth sailing for Saskatchewan's political powerhouse, considering the province is awash in resource money and thousands of people are drawn to Regina and Saskatoon every year.
