Mexican Crash

Mexican Interior Minister Killed By Fog

Several senior Mexican officials died in a plane crash outside Mexico City this weekend.

The Three Amigos meeting scheduled to be held today between Harper, Obama and Calderon has been cancelled after the second most senior Mexican official died in a helicopter crash. On the agenda was job creation, trilateral regulatory co-operation, energy efficiency and climate change. The helicopter transporting Interior Minister Francisco Blake Mora and several other officials is believed to have crashed as a result of poor weather conditions. Initial suspicions of cartel violence drove down the Peso on Saturday. Mora is the second interior minister to die this way in three years after Juan Camilo Mourino died in a plane crash in 2008. Mexican President Calderon has since cancelled all meetings this weekend and will not attend the APEC summit in Honolulu.
