Sure, not when times are good.
The Ontario Teachers Pension Plan will not sell its share of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Ltd., which owns, among other things, the Leafs, the Toronto Raptors, the Toronto FC soccer team, and the Air Canada Centre. After months of negotiations and public speculation, the pension plan, which holds the retirenments funds for 295,000 Ontario teachers, has decided to keep its 80 per cent share in the company. Potential buyers for MLSE, which is worth over $1.5 billion, included Rogers Communications and a private equity fund in New York. The Toronto Rogers Leafs…. quite a ring to it?
