A Torontonian consultant surveyed 22,797 employed Canadians to find out how they spend their time.

A new study on Canadian full-time employees has found that on average, more than half of Canadian men and women feel satisfied with their lives. “Work” took up the most time out of their lives, with the average workweek standing at 48 hours for men and 43.5 for women. The next biggest time waster was sleeping, eating up an average of 47.5 hours per week. The amount of sleep people got strangely did not correlate with hours spent at work. Despite their reported overall life satisfaction, a majority of respondents wanted to spend less time working, more time with family, more time with spouses, less time watching television and less time commuting. An unlucky 1 per cent of women (and 2 per cent of men) worked what is called “extreme hours,” clocking between 85-90 hours of work every week.
