Ottawa High School Bans Yoga Pants (Kinda)

Boys, girls, united against ban for vastly different reasons.
An Ottawa Catholic high school, and one very close to where a certain news editor at The Mark News grew up, has banned one of the most controversial clothing options of the early 21st century – yoga pants. St. Joseph's Catholic High School administration informed students yesterday that the school would be enforcing dress code provisions regarding revealing clothing. Yoga pants, like those popularized by Lululemon, can now only be worn at the school provided the wearer (male or female, we suppose) covers up the backside with a sweater, dress, or other such accoutrement. The ubiquitous pants are a popular winter-time staple, as they provide warmth and comfort while maintaining some semblance of human form beneath them. The pants have also been a boon to the subsection of the population that consider themselves "posterior admirers". (Not coincidentally, high school-aged boys make up a big, big part of that demographic.) Others consider them to be one of the worst fashion trends on the planet. While we're torn between the two sides, banning them from a school will almost certainly have the reverse effect. Reports say there's a petition going around the school hoping to reverse the ban, which will probably get more young minds thinking about democracy than any amount of time spent in Civics class ever could.
