Religious Folk See Atheists As a Bit More Trustworthy than Rapists

But less trustworthy than gays, feminists, people from other religions.

A new study finds that religious people don't think very highly of atheists, placing them above only rapists as far as trustworthiness goes. The University of British Columbia study asked students at the school, as well as 350 American adults, to say what their religious beliefs were and whether they'd hire members of various groups of people, including homosexuals, atheists, members of other religious groups, feminists, and rapists. Believers routinely said they wouldn't hire atheists for jobs requiring a high level of trust, such as daycare workers, but would hire them for work along the lines of serving. Atheists were also seen as more likely to cheat or steal than any of those groups (except for the rapists). Atheists, on the other hand, had no such qualms about Muslims, Christians, and Jews with strong beliefs, but then, they're also bound for eternal damnation in the fiery depths of hell, so it doesn't really matter what they think, does it?
