.XXX Domain Names Now Up For Grabs

Move expected to make finding porno online even easier than it already is.

Looking to give your pornographic website a bit of a lift? As of today at 11 a.m., you can buy a domain name ending in ".xxx" instead of the usual .com or .org. The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers ruled last year to allow the .xxx domain names to be used, as well as any words in any languages. Businesses were given a window to pay a fee that would see their business names taken off the list of available .xxx domains, while new adult-oriented sites will have to pay between $75 and $101 for each domain name – about 10 times more than it usually costs for a .com or .org. About 100,000 .xxx domains have already been sold in a restricted advance sale.
