Flying Robots Construct 20-Foot Structure

Alright, we're calling it: This is the coolest (and oddly the most existential-crisis-inducing) thing you'll see all day. Swiss researchers have developed flying "quadrocopters" that assembled a 20-foot tall structure made out of 1,500 polystyrene bricks. The flying machines, which have four rotors instead of two for maximal control, constructed the small-scale model of a 2,000-ft-tall housing project that could provide homes for up to 30,000 people. To do so, a motion-capture system was installed on the gallery's ceiling to guide the robots where to place each of the bricks. The demonstration took place at the FRAC modern art gallery in Orleans, France, which we're guessing will someday be seen as the birthplace of the robot uprising.
