Iran Rebuffs American Request to Return Drone

In which high stakes international relations basically turns into asking that weird old neighbour of yours for your baseball back.

What do you do when your sworn enemy has something of yours that you value oh so dearly? Well, if you're the United States, and that missing toy is an expensive unmanned aerial drone, then you simply ask for it back. Iran has claimed to be in possession of an American RQ-170 Sentinel drone since one crash-landed in eastern Iran last week. Since then, Iran has put the drone on display, showing it off as a minor victory over its longtime foe, the "Great Satan." Yesterday, President Barack Obama said the U.S. had asked Iran in writing to return the drone to its rightful owners, please and thank you, but Iran is going all Sandlot on the U.S., saying they'll hold on to the multi-million-dollar craft until the U.S. apologizes for violating Iran's airspace. Since we all know how much the U.S. loves going to its enemies, hat in hand, to ask for a favour, we don't see Iran relenting anytime soon on this. Maybe Obama will have better luck dealing with the fearsome government of the mighty Seychelles?
