NDP Support Down in Quebec, Tories Down Across Canada

Poll of the Day: Orange wave reduced to a ripple.
According to a new Harris-Decima poll, the NDP is now tied in the level of public support with the Bloc Quebecois, with both parties landing 26 per cent of the province's support. The poll results suggest a precipitous decline in support for the NDP after its breakthrough in the May 2 election, in which the party picked up 59 of Quebec's 75 seats. The NDP previously had just one seat in Quebec. The Bloc has edged up three percentage points since May (the party also elected a new leader, Daniel Paille, last week), while the Liberals moved up six points to 20 per cent, the Tories inched up one point to 17 per cent, and the Green party made a five-point gain, from two per cent to seven per cent. As recently as October, polls showed the NDP with 43 per cent support in Quebec and the Liberals at just 11 per cent. Granted, both of these polls are just snapshots at a specific time, so take them for what they're worth (which is basically water-cooler conversation and little else). Across Canada, though, the Tories are down to 34 per cent, the NDP's down to 28 per cent, the Liberals have been bumped up to 22 per cent, and the Greens hold seven per cent support.
