Occupiers to Vancouver: We'll Be Back

... once the weather's nicer.

The Vancouver chapter of the Occupy movement says that once winter turns to spring (although in Vancouver, is there much difference?), they'll be back doing what they do best: sitting in public places. Ever since being evicted from the grounds of the Vancouver Art Gallery last month, the movement's organizers have been trying to figure out where to pitch their tents once the, umm, rain and light snow dissipates. (We hate to point this out, but this is almost the literal definition of what it means to be a "fair-weather" activist. Anyhow.) At a press conference yesterday, Occupy spokesperson Sarah Beuhler also took issue with the city's complaints that the month-long protest cost Vancouver about $1 million, considering that's about how much other cities paid to deal with that pesky "freedom of assembly" thing. We'll be looking forward to what the Occupiers have in store. At the very least, it gives Vancouverites something to look forward to this spring, along with an inevitable late-playoff collapse from the Vancouver Canucks.
