After Argentina's president shared her diagnosis, Chávez said the laws of probability suggested this was no coincidence.
Hugo Chávez isn’t accusing the United States of causing cancer in Latin American leaders- he’s just speculating about it. In an end-of-year speech to the armed forces, the Venezuelan president said it was possible that the US had the technology to spread the illness and destabilize the region. The accusation came just a day after Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner announced she would be undergoing surgery for thyroid cancer. The Argentinian president is the 5th left-wing leader of Latin America to be diagnosed with cancer in recent years, following Chávez himself, Dilma Rousseff and Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva of Brazil and Fernando Lugo of Paraguay.
