The governor general listed the 66 people who will receive recognition for their accomplishments.
The list of new appointments to the Order of Canada is out, and the highest honour went to former Liberal Prime Minister Paul Martin. Martin was the only person named to the Companion rank, which recognizes a lifetime of achievement and service to the country. 28 officers and 37 members of the Order of Canada were also named, including retired Libya mission commander general Charles Bouchard, former UN ambassador Robert Fowler, and hockey coach Scotty Bowman. E-bay founder Jeffrey Skoll and the first aboriginal lieutenant governor of Ontario, James Bartleman, were also on the list to receive one of Canada’s highest civilian honours. Over 5,000 people have been appointed to the Order since its establishment in 1967.
