Police still in early stages of investigation into 55 "fires of concern" in the L.A. area since Friday.
The Los Angeles area continues to deal with a worrisome spate of arson attacks as LAPD investigators detained a 'person of interest' after firefighters battled eleven new fires this morning. The person detained for questioning is reportedly straight outta... Germany!? Early reports suggest the man is currently battling the U.S. government over the immigration status of a relative, a matter the police department is looking into. L.A. detectives found materials in the man's van - equipped with Canadian license plates - that could be used to start fires. So far police say "it is too early to speculate if this person is responsible for the spree of arson fires," and have declined to comment on how all of the cases are tied together out of fear that the arsonist or arsonists will switch tactics or that they could spur further copy cat attacks.
